White-label AI: what MSPs and service providers should look for
By the KokuaOS team · July 22, 2026
AI answering is becoming something clients ask their technology provider for by name. For MSPs, telecoms, and UCaaS providers, that's an opportunity — and a trap. Plenty of platforms will let you put your logo on an AI voice agent. Far fewer will let you build a durable business on one.
Here are the questions we'd ask any white-label AI platform, including ours.
1. Whose brand does the customer see?
True white-label means your logo, your domain, your support identity — everywhere, including the customer's dashboard. If the vendor's brand appears anywhere in the customer experience, you're in a channel program, not a white-label one, and the customer relationship is only partly yours.
2. Who controls the price — and the margin?
Commission-based programs cap what you earn and let the vendor set the retail price. Look for wholesale models where you set customer pricing and keep the spread, with usage costs you can see and forecast.
3. Can you bring your own stack?
Telecom and UCaaS providers already own carrier relationships, SIP infrastructure, and sometimes AI provider agreements. A platform that forces you onto its managed stack turns your assets into dead weight. Bring-your-own SIP, telephony, LLM, and speech should be a first-class option, not an exception.
4. Does the hierarchy match how you sell?
If you sell through sub-resellers or manage brands under brands, two account levels won't cut it. Multi-tier hierarchy — provider, reseller, customer, each with scoped control and isolated data — is what separates a platform from a dashboard with your logo on it.
5. Will it survive your customers' compliance reviews?
You're the one on the hook when a clinic or a law firm asks how the AI handles their data. Look for caller verification before disclosure, audit trails, published policies, and compliance postures that are enforced in the product — not just promised in a PDF.
6. Is the billing built for recurring revenue?
Usage rating, per-customer invoicing, and clean wholesale-versus-retail separation are unglamorous and essential. If you can't see your unit economics per customer, you can't run this as a business line.
These six questions are the standard we hold KokuaOS to. If you're evaluating platforms, we're glad to walk you through how we answer each one.
